On a video posted on the Modlife website for the band Angels and Airwaves (AVA) if you pay close attention to the beginning of the video you can see their new square and compass logo, melded with other iconography of the fraternity, mixed with elements of the bands name.
Apparently, Angels and Airwaves is going Masonic.
I just stumbled across this and don’t have much info, but it leaves me wondering what the intent was of using the tools of Freemasonry in the bands brand logo.
Their Wikipedia post has been updated to talk about the new logo and asserts that it is linked to the bands new album “Love”, saying of the new logo mark: This new logo…contains the Latin words “et plumbum mundus per lumen” which translates to “and lead the world by light”.
The new album is due out in February of 2010.
On July 27, 2009, Tom Delong blogged via Modlife: “We’re in the beginning stages of getting the word out that we have a new record and a movie called LOVE that will be released 2/14/2010”
I wonder if while borrowing the square and compass, their borrowing the concept of brotherly love too.
I’ll see what else I can dig up. In the Mean time, watch the Angels and Airwaves video with the log and tell me what you think.

It seems that you’re on to something here.

I’m still wrestling with the Dream Theater single “Rite of Passage”

I would love to see modern rock acts expose a younger audience to Masonic virtues, while giving us an inspirational soundtrack.

Pretty cool. I was always a Blink fan, and really like the A&A stuff.

This new logo…contains the Latin words “et plumbum mundus per lumen” which translates to “and lead the world by light”.
The word “plumbum” means the metal lead, not the verb “lead”. That would be “duco, ducere”, from which we get the English word “duke” meaning “a leader”.
I would translate that phrase “et ducimus mundum lumine” but your mileage may vary.

Good catch, Bro. Chris. Makes me wonder if they want to lead the world to light with a pipe or a candlestick.

If the Masonic connection is real, Tom might make a great podcast guest when “Love” debuts.

I guess it’s a measure of how cynical I am that I’m half expecting them (or their record company) to try and trademark the new logo – in which case our lodge Secretaries can expect nastrygrams demanding that we cease & desist the abuse of their intellectual property. o_O

I work as a stagehand and we were loading out the blink 182 show last week and Tom Delonge’s amp has a square and compass sprayed on the grill. I thought it was rather odd, I suppose it makes more sense now.

i believe it is definatly something masonic. it creates the compass and sqaure with the upside down A. and on the banner where the latin is there is the eye on the right. and on the left is the eye with the light coming from it. the one on the left i have seen many times for masonic symbols. again 13 olive leaves as the one dollar bills has at the very bottom of the symbol, one large one then 6 pairs of twos.

As a member on modlife, Tom has mentioned on multiple occasions that they purposely chose those icons for the logo. He wanted to principles of free masons to be reflected in the logo, as they truly brings about a concept of love and respect in their albums.
As for their failed Latin translation, we’ve told Tom and David…unfortunately, they fail to see that we’re right and say they hired someone to translate it for them. Major fail 😉

Personally I believe that all the things that are happening around us (all of which are being put out in the media and so on..) are preparing us for something big, so that when they do happen ( these weird things) we’ll see them as normal. So if Tom is a freemason ( I don’t doubt he is) and people like him, when this “ secret society” comes out to do something “ different” people won’t be afraid to follow, we’ll just see it as something “ cool”.
(just listen to the song Epic Holiday)nobody is right, nobody is wrong…
American idiot( greenday)?

Tom Delonge is a real mason. you can see it from their newest music videos hallucinations (0:48) from their newest album love. that on his neck he pin the emblem of mason. so it’s confirm that tom delonge join freemasonry.
Adam says
There music sucks so it would be appropriate if he was a Freemason. Stupid elitist racist inbred satanist bastard m$#%^& f@$#%^$.
John Scott Cothill says
Adam, you are misinformed. Freemasonry instils in its members a moral and ethical approach to life; it seeks to reinforce thoughtfulness for others, kindness in the community (a lot of work goes in to local community chapters), honesty in business, courtesy in society and fairness in all things. Members are urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount but, importantly, Freemasonry also teaches and practices concern for people, care for the less fortunate, the elderly and help for those in need.
If more of our society had the ethics of a Freemason, the world would be a better place.
John.
PS; No, I am not a Freemason.
Martin says
Just wait, I will be a Freemason.
gregah nurikhsani says
tom is, mason. he told to his fans that he is mason. but i can’t remember where he said that. could be in modlife. both Tom and “Angels and Airwaves” or AVA are masons. no one knows why. even the guitarist of AVA doesn’t know why. all songs in their three albums are so persuasive. I-Empire, on of their albums, might be “translated” into Illuminati Empire. and about We Don’t Need to Whisper indicates that “they” (red: Freemasons) don’t have to whisper anymore. it is the time to spread it out. but I couldn’t figure out what Love (3rd album) means.
as a “music connoisseur”, I prefer to see it from music angle. Tom is a brilliant musician. he has a lot of fans. no wonder freemasons picked him (or he picked himself) as mason. but still i concern about that mason stuff. I’m a religious one, a moslem, and islam doesn’t allow any kinds like satanic-partnership.
KCK says
Thomas DeLonge is, in fact, a freemason. He is also a Christian, seeing as freemasonry is not actually a religion. He believes in God, Heaven, Jesus, etc… Due to him being a freemason, he has a better understanding of what love is all about and how important other people in our lives are to our own existence. This is clearly shown in the film “LOVE”, which explores what life would be like if you ended up cut off from the world you know.
@gregah nurikhsani, freemasonry is in no way a satanic-partnership of any kind. To become a freemason, you actually have to have your own chosen religion based on any god or higher being. Freemasonry teaches the importance of every person that comes into our lives, how to build better bonds with friends, and other extremely beneficial social skills dealing with love and courage.

Im a huuuuge fan of blink, ava, boxcar racer, plus 44 etc im a bit obsessed lol, Tom Delonge is my idol and had been for the past 9-10 years. I practicly research, read and watch everything on what blink and tom are doing. Like Tom Delonge i have a strong interest in conspiricies, aliens, ghosts etc so I have a lot of understanding on this subject.
So basically Tom Delonge has used the Freemasons logo since boxcar racer. The reason being is as he is as I said, in to his conspiricies and paranormal stuff he had to have come accross and researched the Freemasons at some point. The logo you see all over his guitars, amps, clothing, artwork etc is that of a compass and a square tool in one with the G in the middle. This represents a metafore of the tools being used to create something perfect or better. As we all know a compas creates a perfect circle and a square creates 100% accurate 95 degree angles meaning we can use them to create perfect artcutecury. when the Freemasons first began they where a brotherhood/faturnaty based on building a better life and a better character of yourself. The men where masons (builders and arcitects) which is where the logo also came from and got its meaning. The men would build gothic and beautiful building based on their very accurate and hard working methods. This later became a brotherhood for men who wanted to better themselves, to take the good in them and the skills they had to make some sort of difference either in their families lives or a difference to the world. As we know Tom Delonge formed Angels and Airwaves often saying “we will change the world”, “we will save the world”. This fits in with why he may have joined the Freemasons. He may want to better himself as a man and family man as providing a better life for his family and send a message out to all of his fans using his music and his lyrics. making riddle like lyrics that each and every fan can pick out the words to and make their own view on what they mean. a love struck teen might listen to a song by AVA and think hey this is about a boy loving a girl and doing anything to protect her in this shattered world. The modern freemasons are now just basically a brotherhood of men who just want to be part of something that beleives in a greater good. They are not satanists or extremists of any kind neither are they religeous. They are litraly just a group of men all accross the world who join this some what secrative group and try and make a difference. Tom Delonge has wanted to make a difference for years through politics, websites, music etc. He has set up a breast cancer charity, Tom, Mark and Travis have all sold signed gear on ebay to raise money for charity. Tom is a good guy who beleives he can change atleast a few of his fans views on life. Its not all about what you see on TV, the news, what you read in the papers and what the celebs are doing. Its about opening your eyes and seing that there is more to life than partying and living life like one big party. You got to love, support your family, help others, make a difference when you can and just be a good person. The freemasons can also see what the evil of the world is doing such as certain polititions and their plots to decrease worlds population through events such as 9/11 and 7/7. Thats where the conspiricies really lye. we shouldnt be looking at celebs being members of what is simply a faturnity we should be pointing the finger at the ones in power who are not helping us out and making the world a worse place to live.
All in all Tom Delonge may or not be a Freemason but even if he is they are NOT a bad or evil cult. they are simply a brotherhood who get together and discuss their lives and what could be done to improove things either in tier own life or the world.

Hey all,
